Thoughts -- often intimately private. Things we’ve been taught nobody can steal, that they are yours and yours alone. But what if your thoughts and truths were for everyone to see? What if everyone could reach out and touch them, including you?

Would it be considered a blessing, or the unmasking of curse?

You awaken in a dream, struggling for memories. It seems that even walking feels vague, something you know you should be able to put your finger on, but without any conscience memories. Yet a strange familiarity embraces your body, even with your body tense in incomprehension and fright.

There's little to you but the garments on your back, a weapon you'd be embarrassed to wield, a curious piece of paper, baggage to aid, and something to illuminate your steps in the darkest regions of this world. Not nearly enough, you’d think. But it has to be enough. It has to be.

Something slips past the sensation of familiarity and disturbs you. The colors are vivid, the scents rich, and the pain sharp. Too vivid, too rich, too sharp. It isn't a dream, it's too bright to be a dream. Too sharp and real You're no longer in your world, and you can't go back -- only forward.

You soon begin to realize that there is something enchanting and terrifying about this place... it will take you to your darkest pleasures, and become your deepest secrets. It will cause you searing pain, and answer a select few of your deepest wishes. The places you visit become tattooed inside your heart, and quickly enough, inside your mind. Unfathomable as they may be.

It seems as though you can never visit the same place twice; it's almost as if there's never a chance to grasp anything. It slips away before you can get a coherent hold on it, before your mind can really understand. You can’t go back and have another look at the scene. You must go forward.

The world here is not yours to harness; it seems to give you choices - neither of options are ones you‘d rather choose. But there's a sort of power in the choosing, even if you know the outcome won't be what you'd like it to be. Even, if where you go something seems to rest in the loneliest corners, and even the walls seem to be watching you.

I would tell you to choose carefully, but it's already been chosen. Now it's up to you and those you come across to guide you. Through smiles and frowns -- beyond blood and life.

This is home now.

rules

Common sense and imagination ↔ Use it.

Godmoding ↔ Don't do it, like some people say it's allowed in small allowances but otherwise don't be a jerkwad.

Respect ↔ If you respect others, they will respect you.

Drama ↔ we don't want to see it oocly, icly is fine but out of character is a big no. If we can't resolve these issues as people when they arise oocly, then the creators will have no problem enforcing a strike rule. We just hope it never has to come down to that.

Warning ↔ This game will not breach beyond an R Factor. This pretains to NC-17 threading and logs. If they happen between the players elsewhere then let them stay there and you guys know what happened. But don't thread or log nc-17 graphic sex to [info]lost_handbook

Just about the only thing we'll be strict about here. We're okay with well-done, long as they don't happen all the time but something pretty much cybersex or straight out porn.

No Thanks.

We'd also appreciate if this didn't become sex for the sake of sex, yuri/yaoi for the sake of it. Too many games fall into such a trap and run rampant into mindlessness that is unbearable. Just have enough respect for your characters and the story we'll create here not to treat them as sexual play things alone.

Characters ↔ Applications are too short winded to even consider a reservation but alas, we'll still allow them.

Reservations will last five days for non-members-- extensions can also be given if earnestly needed.

The rule will always be first come first serve. Apologies if you posted right after a person and you had no idea they managed to post before you. No use whining about it, choose a different character or move along.

Characters who have a second or third version of themselves canonically can be played.

Character limit is set to two per fandom until we see how things go. We'll probably extend it to three or four later on. Avoid taking characters that interact with one another heavily, it's fine if you want to but the rule is mostly for your own sake.

Activity ↔ The longest you can go without posting is a month before anything is said. If you don't post within a month or answer to a activity check in [info]lost_hbooc then we reserve the right to let your character free for someone else after a week or two when the check was issued.

Letting us know of a hiatus or minimal play time is nice in advance.

Writing ↔ The usual 'netspeak, bad typos and such aren't allowed.' this place doesn't intend to be grammar whore/nazi about it but some things can be really annoying. Seriously, just play and enjoy yourselves.

Miscellanious ↔ Yes, you're allowed to join the ooc community with your journal name.

No. Not everything must be horror based when your character is represented with challenges but please never forget this element.

∼ disclaimer ∼
this game is obviously inspired by Silent Hill, a brilliant work of Konami. It was also inspired by things such as tales from the darkside and tales from the crypt. All characters resulting from fandoms are owned legally by their original creators. We're just having fun with them.

Anything similiar to other games residing on livejournal or elsewhere are completely unintentional. The creators do not haunt gaming grounds for the most part and neither would we take from anyone. 'Nothing is original, it's all thrown around and cooked in a pot till we get something that feels real enough to be new.' is a truth to be said.

profile codes :: kindness of refuted and a grand thank you to rachel for a info revision on both Miche and Maric's behalf.
